Sir Roger Moore's foreword to Roy Ward Baker's autobiography The Director's Cut: A Memoir of 60 Years in Film and Television

Roy Ward Baker"Roy Ward Baker personally came into my life in the sixties when I was making The Saint, but I was very familiar with his work before then. The classic films Morning Departure and The One That Got Away, and then the epic A Night To Remember were among his most famous.

It occurs to me that it has taken a awfully long time for Roy to put his experiences down on paper. He is famous for his anecdotes and rememberings of his early days of working with Alfred Hitchcock and his recollections always made fascinating listening. In life we should learn from the people we work with and I am always grateful to Roy because I learnt a great deal from him, not only about acting but also directing. I am immensely privileged to have been part of Roy's working life."

Roy Ward Baker has directed Sir Roger in sixteen episodes of The Saint (including the full-length The Fiction-Makers) and four episodes of The Persuaders!. Moore also appeared as an extra in Baker's 1949 crime picture The Paper Orchid.
