Bonds in numbers: "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977)
Many James Bond fans find "The Spy Who Loved Me" the best 007 film ever. Quite a lot believe that it's Roger Moore's top Bond picture. It's hard not to agree with both opinions at least a bit. All the elements seem to work perfectly: the balance between the humour and the action is sustained by Lewis Gilbert's skilful direction. The psychological background of the character is much deeper than in the two previous Bonds featuring Moore and the acting of all the actors makes "The Spy" really enjoyable to watch. This is also the first Bond movie ever, in which female character is equally important as 007. Major Amasova is Bond's partner. What counts more than her body are her spying abilities and intelligence. Yet, "The Spy" is another step onwards to the "funny side of Bond" - more comic like and less realistic. All that was to reach its top only two years later in "Moonraker".
