Desert Island Discs (1981)

Roger Moore in 1981 Desert Island Discs is one of BBC Radio 4's most popular and enduring programmes. Created by Roy Plomley in 1942, the format is simple: each week a guest is invited by Sue Lawley to choose the eight records they would take with them to a desert island. Roger Moore guested on the show in 1981.

Here are the seven songs chosen by Roger Moore (the missing one is the first track - if anybody remembers what was it, let us know!):

New York, New York by Frank Sinatra
Ready To Take A Chance Again by Barry Manilow
La Traviata Overture - Sir Roger admitted he likes opera very much
Bob Newhart (comedian) and The Nuclear Submarine
Fill The World With Love, from the soundtrack of "Goodbye Mr Chips" - he said it reminded him of a concert he had hosted
Memories of The Alhambra (Spanish guitar music) by Leona Boyd
I Shall Hold Your Hand In Mine by Tom Lera (comedy song about a man who has killed his wife)

Roger Moore was said to be amusing as ever during the show. He talked about his latest Bond Movie - For Your Eyes Only. When asked what item he would like to take to a desert island, he said a video player, so he could see tapes of his family.
