Five Questions with Roger Moore
Roger Moore's back on the big screen and getting a view to a kill as a devious soldier of fortune in The Quest with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Looking back on his life, seven seems to be lucky for Moore: He was the suave Agent 007 in 7 James Bond adventures and starred in TV's The Saint for seven years. Numerology aside, the man with the golden gun is spending his golden years helping raise funds for children worldwide as a special agent for UNICEF. Here he shares some insights, for your eyes only:
What did you think of Pierce Brosnan as Agent 007 in GoldenEye?
Roger Moore: I only saw two reels when they were making it. He looked very good, as if he had the proper humor. I saw the sequence he played with Judi Dench as M, and he had the right twinkle.
What was the best advice you ever received?
Roger Moore: "Hit the lines and say the marks" -- Lee Marvin.
The worst advice?
Roger Moore: "Become an actor," from a fellow who wanted me to be an actor.
What do you think of Val Kilmer playing The Saint in a feature film?
Roger Moore: I think he will draw a big audience and make it very successful. As my company is involved in it, I'm very, very happy about it. (self-satisfied chuckle).
Are you enjoying your life at present?
Roger Moore: I've always enjoyed life. I'm quite amazed to wake up and find there's another day ahead of me.
