Here Comes Peter Cottontail - The Movie (2005)
Everybody loves the Easter Bunny. Everybody, that is except the evil Irontail, who wanted the job of Easter Bunny for himself - but lost out to Peter Cottontail. A generation later, Irontail is back to take his revenge, teaming up with the ice-cold Jackie Frost in a devious plot to plunge the world into permanent winter.
Now it's up to Peter Cottontail's son, Junior, to save the day. Away from home for the first time, Junior joins forces with Flutter, a "flight-challenged" bird, and Munch, a mouse who never met a meal she didn't like. Together, these three unlikely kid heroes set out on the adventure of a lifetime. Along the way, they'll test their friendship, travel to the edge of the Earth, and uncover the secret of the Clocks of the season.
"Here Comes Peter Cottontail - The Movie", a 70-minute 3D animation, produced by Kapow Pictures for Classic Media, was written by Jenny Tripp, Kirk Demico and Evan Gore. It was directed by Australian Mark Gravas. The film is a sequel to the popular 1971 English television classic based upon the book by Thornton W. Burgess and directed by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr.
Sir Roger Moore's involvement in the project was announced in November 2004. Moore voiced January Q. Irontail, one of the two villains in the story - the other being Jackie Frost voiced by Molly Shannon. The filmmakers couldn't resist to put a Bond antic into scenario - hence former 007 introduces his character in no other way but... the name's Tail, Irontail.
Sir Roger Moore recalls working on the film: "I was asked to lend my tonsils to the voice of villainous Irontail. I was able to record in a beautiful studio in St Paul, in the South of France, which is sadly now closed. We were treated royally and I realized just how much I enjoyed voiceover work. It was just over half a day's recoding on my own. The other actors did their voices in their own part of the world and it was all cut together. It was fun and I think the movie turned out well. The villanous part are usually the ones you can have most fun with, and in animation they always tend to be really over the top. Wonderful!".
The film premiered on Sep 17, 2005 in USA on Sky Movies 3 and was later released on DVD on March 7, 2006. The DVD additionally consists of 20 minutes of extra features, including alternative opening sequence.
