Charles Lindbergh: The True Story (2005)
Press release from DiwaFilm.de
When Charles Lindbergh, age 72, died in his house on Hawaii after suffering from cancer, he had planned the procedures after his death in close detail. He died the way he lived, obsessed with planning and control, in companion of only his closest family, in puritan tradition and driven by discipline. That is also the way all of Lindbergh's biographers have portrayed him until today. But Lindbergh took his real secrets to his grave.
This film tells the story of Astrid Bouteuil who set out to reveal the true identity of her mysterious father - and revealed Charles Lindbergh's secret double life. It puts the legendary aviator in a completely new light: Today - more than 30 years after his death - the story of Charles Lindbergh needs to be rewritten. His illegitimate children break their silence for the first time. Their recollections and their personal research on their family's history will be revealed.
We follow Astrid on her trip to the United States, meeting with biographers and historians, as well as people who were close friends with her father - all of whom could not believe what they heard. The film is narrated by Sir Roger Moore.
